What kinds of stories does Eaton Krone write?
Krone is a sci-fi satire author whose LightSide novels blend serious stories with humour. His work tips the hat to classics like Douglas Adams’s Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and Terry Pratchett’s Discworld novels while maintaining a distinct voice. He loves making his readers feel part of the Charted Universe, which he constantly expands to give them more to explore.
Why did he become an author?
Krone’s love for writing grew from his love for reading, and while books by Dean Koontz planted the seed, The Lord of the Rings by JRR Tolkien watered it. And after reading the works of Douglas Adams and Terry Pratchett, he craved more but could not find enough fodder to feed his new addiction. So he took the next logical step and wrote his own stories to satisfy the beast.
What did he do before writing his debut novel?
Over two decades ago, Eaton hit pause on his planned writing career to toil in the fields of journalism, PR/communications and advertising. The latter devoured three-quarters of his career-history pie chart along with a sizeable chunk of his sanity. He’s done nearly everything copy- and language-related, from writing and editing to translation and proofreading across a wide spectrum of media. His journalism and copywriting qualifications are in a box somewhere.
What books has he written?
In 2017, after being retrenched for the fourth time, Eaton loosened his stuck pause button to write his debut LightSide novel, A Life Spectacular, which he released in 2018. He followed this up with his second LightSide novel, Happy Meals, in 2020. Now, after (again) getting stuck in the thorns of life for a while, he’s finally in the process of completing his third novel. But if you don’t want to wait that long, visit Books2Read to get cracking on the first two.
What does he get up to in his personal life?
Although pleased to continue his journey as an author, Eaton Krone denies being the author of his own life, as it’s riddled with way too many errors and scenes that cannot be edited or (preferably) deleted. As a cancer survivor with the superhuman ability to wiggle his ears (without touching them, mind you), Eaton spends his free time reading and taking long walks with his unofficial other half, with whom he lives in Cape Town, South Africa. His mind lives somewhere else.
